ORGANIC PEARLED SPELT

It is an organically cultivated grain, without the use of pesticides or synthesized fertilizers. Crop rotation takes place and it is grown in fields where legumes such as chickpeas, beans, lentils and chickling vetch have been previously grown. The seeds are sown in Autumn, at the end of October, followed by hoeing to eliminate any weeds and when ripe they are mechanically harvested and taken to the warehouse where decortication, cleaning and the pearling procedure takes place. The pearled spelt is then packed into 0.5 kg bags and sold along with other organic products. Grains such as spelt have been a typical product in the Pesaro – Urbino province since time immemorial.
